Keeping an eye on the latest WordPress themes, here are some exciting free themes recently updated in the WordPress repository.

Opus Masonry

Opus Masonry is sort of a magazine and personal blog hybrid design. This is a child theme of Opus Blog. It is compatible with Gutenberg blocks.

The typography is clean and suited for long-read articles too. The choice for headline as Prata serif font adds to the charm of this theme.

The top of the homepage index has magazine styled layout, while the rest of the posts are presented in a masonry layout. The footer section of the theme is designed to have three sections and a top section for highlight or newsletter opt-in.

This WordPress theme is suited for personal blogs, especially with feminine touch such as mommy blogs, and news-related websites.

This theme comes with slider, one-column layout, masonry layout, and customization options for header, footer, typography, color and much more.

In addition, it has custom widgets for recent post, featured posts, social icons and author description. It also has the option to choose content display for excerpt or content, excerpt length, pagination types, post format icon show hide, full and grid layout, sidebar options, etc.

Magever

Magever is a news website WordPress theme. It is a child theme of Newsever. This responsive WP theme is created for magazine and news style websites.

For many publishers, this WP theme might be a good fit for their newd publication website. This theme has somewhat cluttered header section due to banner ad, news scroll and large logo section at the top.

This theme could benefit from some breathing space and decluttering. Nonetheless, the theme is a good option ot consider when looking for a free news website theme.
