Google AMP-powered web stories can now be created with a WordPress plugin, available in beta. Though yet to be available for general use, the beta phase download is available for anyone to try it in advance.
This WordPress plugin will help create visual stories with animations and interactive elements such as tappable links. It is basically a WordPress implementation of Web Stories.
Web Stories are full-screen experiences for visual narratives, with engaging animations and tappable interactions. The Web Story format can be shared and embedded across the web. It provides publishers with a mobile-focused format for delivering news and information.
Web Stories for WordPress takes an interesting approach to creating content within WordPress. Basically, the content editor is designed like an application screen, say, Gimp photo editor, with multiple panels and windows. It includes a drag-and-drop editor, a dashboard for editing and finding templates, and custom URLs.
As the plugin creates a “web story” custom post type, there is a lot of flexibility in terms of managing index / archive pages, as well as general reading experience.
Web Stories have their own Dashboard screen within in the WordPress admin. Instead of being restricted to the normal text-based list of posts, the Web Stories for WordPress incorporates the visual form within its own indexing and user interface.
